Jason J. Smith, Esq.
Founder, Smith Legacy Law
Jason J. Smith founded Smith Legacy Law to give individuals and families sophisticated, personal advice on tax and estate planning. Clients work with him directly, and many have done so for years.
Jason is based in Dublin, Ireland, and advises U.S. clients worldwide.
Career
Jason has practiced law since graduating from Yale Law School in 2006. Immediately after law school he was selected as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny. He then joined Wiggin and Dana in Connecticut as a commercial litigation associate, where he found his calling in trusts and estates planning, administration and litigation.
He went on to practice at Katten Muchin Rosenman in New York, and later built the trusts and estates litigation department as a partner at Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone. In 2018 he founded his own firm, The Law Offices of Jason J. Smith, which became Smith Legacy Law.
Years spent resolving disputes over wills and trusts give his planning work a practical edge. He knows how plans are challenged, and he drafts with that in mind.
Before law
After earning his undergraduate business degree from New York University, Jason worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers on business process, information systems and revenue growth engagements around the world. He then founded and ran an internet marketing firm, Ascension Communications, before attending law school. That experience is part of why he approaches client problems the way a business owner would.
Where he comes from
Jason grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, in a family of farmers and ministers. Those years shaped the work ethic, thoughtfulness and care for others that his clients value, and they are why so many of them describe him as their lawyer for life.
